I like the smaller size of this reference book, it makes it easy to throw in my purse and have it with me. The information makes it really easy to look things up and not have to remember everything. I have used it several times to show friends how to use different features on gimp!

This little book needs to go away. The version of GIMP that it describes is long gone and not missed. The contents is nearly all useless, and there are so many better books on GIMP available.

Valuable New information for Mediators

This newly revised edition of The Promise of Mediation offers a wealth of new information on the priniciples of transformative conflict intervention. Many readers may not be aware that the revised edition actually contains almost entirely new material, reflecting new understandings of transformative mediation that have developed since the publication of the first edition. Bush and Folger offer new specifics for practice in the transformative framework of mediation through a carefully analyzed case study, in which we can see details of the "small steps" of conflict transformation. They also discuss the impact that the transformative movement has had on the field as a whole, and debunk some common misconceptions about the transformative framework. I have especially enjoyed the last chapter, which addresses, more completely than anything in the first edition, the deep underlying values that have led to the articulation of a transformative vision for mediation, and looks at possibilities for the future of the field.

This is definitely a book I would recommend to anyone interested in mediation, conflict, or just the interaction of human beings.

A Huge Step Forward in the Art and Science of Mediation

I'm grateful to the authors for the significant advance in mediation thinking that this book represents. This new edition has the potential to move the entire field toward a deeper, more powerful understanding. With the original edition, and again with this one, Bush and Folger have provided great clarity to a topic that, until now, has been muddled. While other mediators and writers succumb to the pressures of conflict and become part of the problem, these authors instruct us on how to remain true to the most important principles that lead to deep healing of human conflict. If I had the need, I would only hire a mediator who had read, studied, understood and embraced this book.

A Worthwhile Sequel

This is the follow-up to the authors' watershed first edition of the book by the same name, and contrary to the fate of most sequels, this one's really worthwhile. Indeed, it's largely a new book, rather than a mere revision; it fully updates the reader on the journey and developments in "transformative mediation" over the decade since the authors' first book with the same title was published in 1995. For anyone with an interest in the transformative model of mediation (as contrasted with, for example, facilitative or evaluative mediation), this is the best, most comprehensive, and well-written volume available.

Great even for advanced ELLs

I used this book and audio CD with some extremely advanced non-native speakers (Koreans who teach English as a foreign language in Korea) and they loved it. They found that they did not know 75% or more of the expressions in the book and they had a great time trying to incorporate the new language into their everyday conversations here in the U.S. Anyone who is a non-native speaker of English can benefit from this series.

After reading all the great reviews I was fairly excited to get this book and begin learning how to get into real estate.

I began reading and the whole intro and first chapters were about making sure you have the right mindset. Great, I already had the right mindset or I wouldn't have bought the book.

I kept reading waiting for the real stuff to start. More fluff. I try to read on-wards, more fluff...

I begin perusing to where the real stuff actually begins, although it seems to never actually get there. I would love to return this to get my money back but the price of return shipping comes out to about the price I paid... kinda lame.

Save your money and buy a book that actually helps you develop a strategy. This book will only help the you get excited about the fact that you need a strategy. While some people may need that kick to get up and do something, if you are up to the point where you are buying a book to help prepare you to get started - this is not it.

I found this book to be rather inspirational. Described in detail was a manner in which one could, simply by following directions and employing basic due-dilligence, come to possess and own-outright, over a period of time, a portfolio of real estate assets valued in excess of $1million.

Major pro's of this book include:
- No get rich scheme
- Plenty of charts and tables
- Mental-maps to how the wealthy perceive money as compared to the un-wealthy (i.e. the Financially Wealthy Money Matrix, the Path of Money, etc.)
- Explaining the key difference between an opportunity and a deal, and how one's criteria and terms are involved in each
- Profiles of real Real Estate Millionaire Investors who were surveyed to create the content for this book

Cons:
- None that come readily to mind

I have, and will continue to recommend this book to anyone who is seriously considering investing in real estate. There's no sense re-inventing the wheel, and viewed properly this book can be viewed as a set of schematics to help you build your own before you start.

Extraordinary scholarship

Determinism and Freedom in Stoic Philosophy is truly remarkable scholarship, illuminating, philosophically inspiring and highly recommended.

Bobzien traces the Stoic theory of causal determinism to its beginnings and discusses its connection with their views on freedom, action, and moral responsibility. The book is, however, more than a book on the history of philosophy; it is a book on philosophy and is, indeeed, philosophically rewarding.

This book is highly recommended not just for those intereseted in Stoicism, Hellenistic philosophy or Ancient philosophy generally, but also for anyone interested in contemporary debates about determinism and questions about free will.

About the Author
Laura L. Koppesis owner/president of LK Associates, a human resources,  organizational development, and leadership consulting firm. Prior to full-time consulting, she worked in higher education, with the most recent appointment as associate vice president of institutional effectiveness and associate professor of industrial-organizational (I-O) psychology. As a U.S. Fulbright Scholar, she taught and conducted research at the University of Hradec Králové and University of Pardubice in the Czech Republic. Laura established the position of Historian for the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) and contributed to the preservation of SIOP’s history and I-O psychology through international and national presentations, publications, and other documents. She served as Membership Chair on the Executive Committee of the Society for the History of Psychology (American Psychological Association-Division 26). Her interests include leadership, organizational effectiveness, motivation, cross-cultural differences, climate and culture (making great places to work), and history of I-O psychology. She is a member of SIOP and is currently the Editor ofTIP(The Industrial-Organizational Psychologist). She is also a member of the American Psychological Association, the American Psychological Society, the International Association for Applied Psychology, and the Society for Human Resources Management. She earned her B.S., M.A., and Ph.D. in I-O psychology from The Ohio State University.

About the Author

David Wescott is author of Camping in the Old Style and editor of Primitive Technology: A Book of Earth Skills. Formerly education director for the Boulder Outdoor School, he has been a leading figure in wilderness education for more than thirty years. He lives with his wife in Rexburg, Idaho.

Great Information

This book is not for beginners but has a real depth of knowledge. Not many step by step instructions, but if you already have a base of bushcraft or primitive skills there are lots of nuggets in here to inspire you. The chapter on making bone blades and tool points was very useful to me. Great atlatl info also. Get into the woods and experiment!

If you are curious about what primitive technology is about this book will give you a good introduction. Lots of cool drawings and pics but don't expect step by step, hand held instructions for the multitude of topics covered in this compilation. If you don't know much about this stuff then some vocabulary may be new to you such as atlatls, celt, haft, biface, pecking and the list goes on. It was new for me but I found that my interests grew deeper and soon found myself buying books on flintknapping (did I have money for that...?) which I knew next to nothing about not too long ago. Inspirational in so many regards with some reasonable instruction from pics and words combined but I think these articles were intended for those with some background in the subject. Many short articles with great tidbits for the outdoorsman. A taste of this and a flavor of that by leading authorities whose expertise is compiled into one book. I recommend it highly not only for the curious but the outdoorsman, survivalist and tinkerer! I love that little knife in the middle foreground on the cover!
