About the Author

Bill Sapsis has been involved in the entertainment industry for over 40 years. In 1981 he started Sapsis Rigging, Inc. and developed the company into an internationally recognized leader in the design and installation of stage equipment. He is a current member of the ETCP Council and Chair of the Rigging Working Group for PLASA NA. He also sits on the PLASA Foundation's Board of Directors and is a member of the Behind The Scenes committee. He is the recipient of the 2010 EVA Swan Award, PLASA NA's highest honor. Bill is a USITT Fellow and a past member of the USITT Board of Directors. Bill also co-produces the highly acclaimed North American Theatre and Engineering Conference in New York City.

This is a compilation of excerpted info from several books and not a comprehensive overview of entertainment rigging. Tho some of the info seems dated, by & large, rigging techniques have not changed dramatically, so this is still viable. Reading this book will NOT make you a "rigger".

Absolutely gorgeous!

I'm a budding fan of classic illustration and got this book primarily to see the development of this art through the year in magazine art. This book contains such gorgeous work by George Wolfe Plank, Eduardo Garcia Benito, Georges LePape, Carl Erickson, etc that I was almost tempted to get a second copy to post selected pictures near my desk at home. Thankfully, this book comes with a small selection of cardboard inserts to serve this purpose. If you're a fan of the Vogue classic American covers, illustration, fashion and art, this is a must own.

From fashion to the faces

With this large coffee table book we see fashion developing during the last 120 years and also the faces of beauty. The book is mostly in chronological order, although at points it jumps around from year to year, which makes no sense and is a bit irritating if you are trying to see a smooth evolvement of style. Especially when a 1927 cover is inserted in the earlier 20's when fashions were much different.
5 poster boards, the approximate size of the book (12"x9") are inserted in the book and there is an index. Each cover has the person responsible for it and sometimes the name of the face on the cover shot. A forward and an introduction sum up the influences of Vogue. Sections are divided by decade, with a bit of text to tell what it was about. Some of the covers are very small, others full page

This is a history of fashion and style, that "held a mirror up to their times". We see covers progress from drawings to clothes and artistic flair to the faces of the beautiful and glamorous. Those who are fans of art, magazines, especially of Vogue, the visual arts or fashion would enjoy this book.

This is easily one of the most beautiful fashion books that I've seen. The photos are gorgeous and of the highest quality. The book offers loads of fantastic covers showing the evolving world of fashion illustration and photography starting with Vogue's very first issue to the most recent ones. All the covers have captions showing their dates and the name of the photographers who shot them. This is a highly recommended book for anyone who appreciates fine books and beautiful photography. It also compliments the previous books chronicling the covers of both British and French Vogue. Also, the ready-to-frame covers at the end of the book add a really nice touch.

About the Author
John Norman, born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1931, is the creator of the Gorean Saga, the longest-running series of adventure novels in science fiction history. Starting in December 1966 with Tarnsman of Gor, the series was put on hold after its twenty-fifth installment, Magicians of Gor, in 1988, when DAW refused to publish its successor, Witness of Gor. After several unsuccessful attempts to find a trade publishing outlet, the series was brought back into print in 2001. Norman has also produced a separate science fiction series, the Telnarian Histories, plus two other fiction works (Ghost Dance and Time Slave), a nonfiction paperback (Imaginative Sex), and a collection of thirty short stories, entitled Norman Invasions. The Totems of Abydos was published in spring 2012. 

All of Norman’s work is available both in print and as ebooks. John Norman's best effort. *sigh* regrettably, while his ideas are stellar, his writing is... hang on...
Can I say certain words in reviews?..... no?..... H'mmm.

Never mind. Let's just say if you're a 14 year old boy you're gonna LOVE Norman's entire series. 34 bopoks and counting... counting.... counting.

Very Enjoyable

Wonderful book not just for those teenaged, D&D playing, Dreaming of girls- and what they can do for them types.
A very well constructed world, with alot of believable characters, and populations. John Norman does tend to drag on a bit with descriptions- I didnt need to read a 3 page description of a Tuchuk wagon in NOMADS - but they are easily skimmed through.
One bad point- Tarl Cabot does tend to come off as superman- always successful at every turn- BUT he is weak willed, falling pray to bouts of weeping and insecutrities while acting disdainfully of the female slaves- "she was after all, just a slave". John looses himself in the greater glory of the dream of BDSM- and even a small amount of people participating in the BDSM lifestyle practice "Gorean". usually a small ritual of female worshipping the male, and declaring him her Master as she drops into the "pleasure slave" submission pose.
Beautiful- but hey guys! It's Fiction- bear that in mind when you are swinging around your Conan swords!

This would have been a good primer if it was actually complete

This would have been a good primer if it was actually complete. The author simply packaged together a couple of links and one small example without much descriptive material to guide a newbie along the way. At about 10 pages, this is more of flip chart (with a lot of info missing) rather than a real "book". Fortunately I have Kindle Unlimited so it was free for me to read - it's definitely not even worth the $0.99 the author is charging.

The book was overall good and exciting with lots of laughs. Its kind of a kids book sort of speak... for graff writers. Mostly short storys and tons of pics. It can also be finished in one day, although i took two.

It starts out by going into sab's upbringing, which was acually interesting, kind of all makes sense. youll know what i mean when u read it.

Than it quickly dives into some of sab's legendary illegals and stomping grounds for AWR and MSK. It also grazes into a few other peoples lifes and tells some things that most people dont know.

I only wish he told more. I guess i feel that i got the short story of it all and i was in for the long. Im also very dissapointed that he never really got into king AYERS story, kinda just skipped over him.

all in all, its a book worth picking up for the price.

amazing artwork. deep, funny look into the life. in kind of a short story form.

If you are not familiar with Saber then get this book! if you are familiar with saber then get this book!!!! The book goes into detail about his childhood and through his teenage years with ALOT of artwork. The stories are in detail and pull you right in! truly a great book about a west coast graffiti artist! i couldn't find this book for a while and i found it on Amazon at a really good price, so dont wait... GET IT!
