Mmmm, Tasty!
By Jacob Spinoza
I found this book very helpful in the battle with yeast. The recipes are healthy, made from common ingredients, and quick and easy to prepare. They are also very flavorful. By avoiding the foods which promote the growth of Candida Albicans yeast, your body's natural immune defense can re-establish a healthy balance of micro-organisms for optimum health. Following the diets in this book, I noticed a difference immediatley, and was completley free of symptoms in two weeks. (I also used herbs to help fight the candida)

A big disappointment, most recipes useless
By FX
For those of you who know about Candida, I am currently on the 'strict diet' which is the part where you actually kill off the candida overgrowth (and the part that takes the longest) and as we know, the part where you cannot have any sugars, even natural ones such as those found in sweet vegetables and fruit.
I bought this book to inspire me during this dull phase, and to help me to make my meals more interesting.
I was very disappointed to see that the person who wrote this clearly has no idea about candida. A lot of the recipes contain tomatoes, carrots, squash, red bell pepper, and even potato. All of these are forbidden while actually trying to cure the candida.
This book does contain some nice, healthy recipes, but the majority are only useful if you have already cured your candida. the title should just be 'a yeast-free cookbook' and should have no claim to understanding candida albicans.
Don't waste your money!

Somewhat disappointed in this book to be perfectly honest
By Julie Guerrieri
Somewhat disappointed in this book to be perfectly honest. The information about candida albicans itself is good--very informative--but the recipe section, which is why I got this book, is sorely lacking. How boring. No wonder so many people give up on the Anti-Candida Diet. I've had more luck finding recipes that don't feed candida online from multiple sources than through recipe books like this. This book is great if you're planning to eat mostly salads, but most people need more variety than that--especially those who are accustomed to a diet that feeds candida. (Anyone who is doing this diet on the recommendation of a friend or loved one will give up due to depression without a 'spiced up' diet.) If you're looking for a good place to find recipes that are just as good as the typical food that most people eat--pancakes, pumpkin pie, crackers, etc.--Mark's Daily Apple is a great resource! So many times with these health "crazes," the "healthy" recipes just taste awful! Nothing like the original. The ones on MDA taste just as good as the original without all of the unhealthy crap in it. Some of the recipes have stuff like honey and maple syrup in them, so, if you're cutting those out, you may have to tweak them a bit, but, overall, they're very helpful--and yummy!
