This was an excellent review manual for the PE exam

This was an excellent review manual for the PE exam. I used only the review book along with the practice problem and quick reference companion to study for the test, and passed the exam on the first try. I also use this as a great reference manual at work as well.

Apparently they lowered the price by $100 since I wasted $225 on this book, they're probably going to be coming out with a new edition with a couple of numbers changed in the problems and a different cover so they can continue to gouge professionals. There are a lot of problems in this book and if you can solve them you'll probably do well on the PE. On the other hand, you'll do even better if you just get the (far less expensive) NCEES sample exam as those questions are far more similar to what you will actually see on the PE exam. FYI, I passed the chemical PE but didn't use this book at all. I just used the sample exam. I did however find the reference manual that accompanies this book to be pretty useful on the exam. What would make this book (and the reference manual) better would be more kinetics questions. Those account for a good percentage (maybe 6-10 problems out of 80) of questions you'll see on the test and yet you will hardly find anything in either book about those questions. Instead you find hundreds of useless pages covering subjects that you won't find on the exam. Why is that? Probably because these books are copy paste jobs from the other disciplines. The ChemE books are probably 80% the same as the MechE books with some environmental material inexplicably copied in probably from the Civil Engineering series.

Gives you more material to work with beyond the one practice test you can get from NCEES. The practice problems in this volume tend to be significantly harder than those in the test. I guess this is a good thing, since it over-prepares you.
